For the moment an ADHD brain gets stuck
Soot helps you name it, unhook from the story, and take one small step. If you want, one email later asks: did it happen?
No signup. About 2 minutes.
A text left on read. A task you can't start. A mistake on replay. Pick the closest one. No blank box to stare at.
What's going on?
The words you write stay on this page. They're never saved or sent anywhere.
How it works
Not a chatbot you have to talk at, and not another planner. A few calm screens, one thing at a time.

Pick the moment and name the feeling. One tap is enough.

Put a little distance between you and the story your brain is telling.

Work out a first move together: a tiny start, a short draft, a sorted list.

Optional quiet company while you do it. No countdown, no pressure.

Did it happen? Either answer is fine. "Not yet" just gets a smaller step.
If you want, it can also check back later by email: just once, at a time you pick.
The research
Every mechanic here traces to real, cited research. None of it is a fix or a promise about your specific situation, and nothing here replaces a doctor or a licensed mental health professional.
Read the evidencePutting a feeling into words measurably calms the brain's threat response, which is the actual mechanism behind naming the moment first.
Lieberman et al., UCLA, 2007Emotional reactions that feel disproportionate are a documented, core part of ADHD itself for an estimated 30 to 70 percent of adults, not a character flaw layered on top of it.
American Journal of Psychiatry, 2014A plain explanation of why your brain does this is itself recommended as a first step in ADHD care, not just a nice-to-have before the real help starts.
NICE guideline NG87A specific 'if this happens, I'll do that' plan reliably helps people follow through on something they'd otherwise avoid or forget, which is the idea behind every small next step this site suggests.

Meet Soot
A calm, black cat who shows up for the hard moments and never once makes you feel bad for needing them. No sad face when you're gone a month. No guilt trip when you come back. Soot doesn't keep score, and isn't pretending to be a person.
The Reset and every guide are free, with no account. The app keeps a free core, and any paid plan shows its price here, publicly, before anyone pays.

A free core stays free. Any paid plan shows its price here first, with the exact charge date before you start.
No. This is a coaching and self-help tool, and using it doesn't create a clinical relationship with anyone. If you want ongoing professional support, a doctor or a licensed mental health professional is the right place to start, and this site keeps pointing there wherever it matters.
Yes. Plenty of people use this after a strong self-suspicion, a long waitlist, or years of wondering, not only after a formal diagnosis. Nothing here asks for proof.
The words you write in the Reset never leave your device: they're matched to a starting point right there, then discarded. If you ask for a check-in email, your address is used only for that email (and to tell you when the app opens, if you tick that box). We keep a scrambled form of it and the time you picked, never your words, and delete them 30 days after that time. If you stop check-ins, the scrambled form stays, so we never write to you again. If a future account-based version stores anything, what's stored and why will be stated in plain language, not buried in a policy nobody reads.

Go to the crisis resources page now, not to this tool. It has the right contacts for where you are. This site is not equipped to help in a crisis, and it won't pretend otherwise.
A deeper version of this, with memory of your patterns, gentle check-ins, and more than one small step at a time, is in development. Leave your email and we'll tell you when it's ready. Nothing else.
